The impact social media has on black lives matter

The #blacklivesmatter

The movement #blacklivesmatter has given it a higher spot in the social media - with its hashtag that went viral about how black people have been treated. Black lives matter has used social media as a strategy to show how black people are being treated day in day out all around the world.(how-to-support-the-black-lives-matter-movement)

Its hashtag moved the world and gave it a unique insight as to how people are fighting to have a normal life and not the life that is being based on race nor colour. The campaign has grown, with the hashtag being shared and having an increase of viewers into their Blogs, Facebook pages, and but mostly Twitter.

The use of social media has impacted the campaign in a great way in term of raising and having movement that were joint by celebrities, mayors, women, men and children from different countries.(/movements/page/2/

Where it all started

The colour black has always been a colour that defined black people and their race. A colour that made them to be undermined and misunderstood. The colour that prevent a lot of opportunities and defined black people as slaves. This colour has limited the ability of black people's power and let it to give them low self-esteem. It's because of this color that black people don't look like they deserve peace, unity and freedom to be themselves and enjoy live. Its because of being black that you don't deserve to be alive and see the next day.(blacklivesmatter.)

Was the world going to treat black people differently if we had a different skin colour or been born from a different race?

Being black has never stopped black people from being original or changing to impress the world and its societies.

The effectiveness of social media and its hashtags

Social media opened all of its platforms to sharing the campaign's hashtag.
The campaign has used the platforms to its advantage to reach out to people all around the world as it shared its movements on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

Using the hashtag, #blacklivesmatter, the campaign has grown rapidly and was able to gather around people to support their campaign. this came as a great advantage because they were able to be unit black people all over the world to have an end to the racism, murders of black people and empowering black people to feel free and embrace their skin colour.(black-lives-matter-call-conscience)

it also came as an advantage to, not only having people joining the movement but celebrities as well and other campaigns that are related to them.

As great as social media has had a huge impact on black lives matter, but it has become a disadvantage because even though the movement has been going all around, people still had negative impacts on black lives and as black people, we haven't really acknowledged the power we carry and the leaders we give birth to.(johnjansonmoore)

It becomes a disadvantage because the future generation won't look back and see the purpose of this campaign and how it was created and still live in the shadowed world of being slaves and not standing for what belongs to them.

I recommend that the campaign does not stop fighting for the rights and lives of black people. That it practices the uses of social media platforms to have a bigger reach and to have this movement in each and every country in the world.

  4. Movements like these are very essential towards the development of black people but at times I just wonder if we're being singled out because of our color ,because I truly never want to be pitied for anything that's happened before.
